The common house is the hub of the community. It is an extension to your living room. The intention is to eat together regularly. Take a break from your home/office and have a cup of tea in the common house and have an ad hoc chat with whoever else is there. Organised events can be open to the wider community e.g. singing, yoga, dance. It's an idea place for large birthday parties. Members are expected to be on the cooking and other rotas. You can of course choose when you eat communally and whether to bring guests. Meals will cost about £3.00. Pottery, arts and crafts, dancing, yoga etc can all happen here. The common house is not a venue to be booked – it’s always available to members. Although, of course, parties and celebrations will happen there.
The Common house contains these amazing facilities:
1) A large fully fitted kitchen and dining area. This is for regular shared meals and a larger dining space for guest, if your flat is not big enough.
2) A guest bedroom. This can be booked by residents. It means spare bedrooms are not needed within your flat.
3) A well equipped laundry. Doubles as a great place to meet.
4) A Gymnasium, with weights, a treadmill, a rowing machine and mats.
5) A sauna.
6) A workshop for crafts and woodwork. Storage rooms, one for each flat.
Secure parking for 10 bicycles is inside the Bath St. entrance.
